小滿 Xiaoman: literally means “grain full”

Nankunshen Wang Ye Ritual 南鯤鯓王爺祭
Nankunshen Daitian Temple, considered Wang Ye's founding temple and the largest one, is a Level Two Ancient Monument. It also has the reputation of being Number One Temple in Taiwan. April 26th and 27th of lunar calendar are the birthdays of Li Wang Ye and Fan Wang Ye. Every year, Wang Ye from different regions will come back at this time. Except for believers and pilgrimage groups, many Jitong (spirit medium) will also go there. The Birthday of Shennong (Emperor of the Five Grains) 神農大帝誕辰
Shennong is the patron deity of farmers and pharmacists because he has been thought to not only have taught the ancient Chinese their practices of agriculture, but also have done researches into the properties of plants by experimenting upon his own body. On the day of his birthday (April 26th of lunar calendar), all Shennong Temples in different regions will hold temple fairs to celebrate it.
To honor the contribution of Shennong, the government set a prize called “Shennong Prize”. The government will praise the farmers who make great contribution every May to encourage them.
神農大帝因為教民務農，且曾親嚐百草以治民疾，故普遍受到農民及藥界的信仰。台灣各地的神農廟就會舉辦廟會，讓信眾虔誠地向神農大帝祝壽。
而有鑑於神農大帝的製耒耜以播五穀，勤耕耘以足衣食，為中華民族奠定了農業基礎，我國也特別設置了「神農獎」獎項，於每年的五月表揚傑出農民，以激勵農業經營者能日新又新，發揚神農精神。
