Regularly, Taiwanese can have a miniature birthday celebration "Syu Suei"[1] three years old. Until people get married or over sixteen years old they are considered an "adult". Before that people would eat "vermicelli with pork leg" every year and we call that "Siao Shengrih"[2]. Furthermore, people over the age of 50 are considered to have "Shou” [3] and have a "Da Shengrih"[4] in every decade. On the birthday, people will eat vermicelli and eggs, which means come into being.

holds that a baby is one year old at birth.
[2] Siao Shengrih小生日: Comparing with Da Shengrih, Siao Shengrih has simpler
meaning than Da Shengrih.
