Qiufen: literally means “autumnal equinox”
Qiufen means that the autumn has been over a half, and the day of Qiufen has the equal length of day and night. After the day of Qiufen, the day time will be shorter and shorter, while the night time will be longer and longer. Besides, the weather is getting cooler. Qiufen usually begins on around September 23 and ends on around October 8.
There are three indications of Qiufen. One of them is there will be no more thunder; another is that the bugs going out in spring will go back to the underground, and the other is that the mist is no longer as much as it is in summer; the air will become drier and drier. Furthermore, the crisp fall is the harvest season of many crops; as a result, farmers will predict by the weather of Qiufen that if there will be a good harvest that year.

If the weather is fair on the day of Qiufen, it means that there will be a good harvest that year; on the contrary, if it thunders on the day of Qiufen, the harvest of the year will be poor.
